S2 E10 Tim Mead, Chairman & Founder's Son, Yeo Valley Organic
Tim Mead is the son of pioneers, the husband and wife duo, Mary and the late Roger Mead, who began their entrepreneurial journey back in the 1960s, with a tea room, pick your own fruit, and making yogurt with leftover milk from the grocer's cream which they sold locally in Somerset.
As a result of a family tragedy Tim took over running their two farms when he was only 25. A few of their achievements include 3 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, growing elephant grass for bio fuel and run the milk bottling plant off solar power.
In this episode you will hear how Tim took on the mantle and what he has learnt since the early days, the importance of organic farming, his thoughts on plant-based milk, how he and his loyal team grew the business to be one of the UK’s top 100 businesses, employing around 1,800 members of staff and much much more.
