James Davidson is the co-founder of an award-winning subscription-based dog food business which is personalised for your dog whatever its make, model, health condition et al. After only five years, they had a revenue of more than £30 million and attracted food giant, Nestle's Purina Petcare, to snap up a majority share, hitting the top 30 spot in The Sunday Times, Top 100 Best Small Companies To Work For in 2020, and chalking up an average of 4.7 on Trustpilot with 28,000 reviews.

This co-founder has clearly ticked the box of making it. What's great to discover is that 50% of their leadership team are women. To give us all hope, it started out in a flat in Richmond.

James and I chat about the early days, the importance of all his co-founders (there are 8 including James), what attracted Purina, the effects of the pandemic, what they are doing to support climate change, the skills he has needed to take Tails.com to where it is today, how and who gets him outside to make sure he has fresh air, the importance of a cold shower and loads more.

My book recommendation: Fats that Harm, Fats that Heal ~ Udo Erasmus
James's Fav Book: The Pillars of the Earth ~ Ken Follett
