S3 E5 Drew Benvie, Founder & CEO Battenhall
Drew Benvie, Founder and CEO of the multi-award winning Battenhall (ranked as the best social media agency and best specialist communications agency in the UK). Drew calls himself a geek and was coding at the age of 7 on his Amstrad computer and created the entry for 'social media' on Wikipedia way back in 2006. Clients include the big shots many of whom remain confidential.
He also lectures at the American University of Paris and has given a Ted talk X on understanding the world of trolls and bots. The agency has notched up numerous awards, including The Drum, PRCA, UK social media, PR Weekly, CIPO, GDXA, and most recently PRWeek UK power week 2021, which they've won consecutively over the last three years. Since recording they have been awarded Global Social Media Agency of the Year 2021. Oh and if you ask Alexa for the latest insights from Battenhall she will have the answer!
Drew shares with us his how and why he came to founding Battenhall, his work ethic, how they weathered the early days of the pandemic to then get on the crest of a wave with needing to recruit to keep up with the work, his thoughts on the latest audio app, Clubhouse, (he now has a Clubhouse exec), the effects of climate change, his thoughts on the biggest changes in social media and what he does to switch off and so much more.
